Shai Faran

My classes consists of things I am fascinated by at the moment, a mixture of things I gathered through the years and things I have developed myself.  During these two weeks we will focus on the idea of musicality, approaching music from different directions such as the rhythmical structure and our relation to it, the emotions it evokes, the memories it brings, the expressions it triggers, and to do all that using MOVEMENT as our main tool. Nowadays, my main tool of work is improvisation, with an interest in movement, musicality, habits, freedom of choice, expressiveness, and limiting the possibilities of movement in order to find new options. The class is divided in two parts; in the first we warm up the body, the awareness and the senses, using mobility, strength and stretch into traveling in space, engaging into dynamic movement and preparing the body to work, as well as using the imagination and triggering the senses with the information around us. In the second part we work with very specific and simple physical tasks/limitations/scores, and build layers of information which will bring us to the rich, full, expressive and musical dancing.
